CO network has thrived significantly as a strategic lever to support Turkey’s growth agenda and reached to 85 sites that operates in 8 different cities. This rapid growth increased the need for implementing a sustainable financial control framework and tracking the finance/accounting processes at site level.
Turkey’s RBA model deviates from the standard RBA model in many aspects and one of the main difference is that the ownership of dry stock at sites belong to Shell in Turkey’s RBA model (first implementer of MBA model globally in Shell). Furthermore, SPAS is a non-GSAP OU and uses two different ERP systems that interact with each other at site-level, ie. Promaks as Back-Office-System at sites and Logo as the main ERP at Headoffice. Existence of non-standard systems & processes requires reinforced financial controls.
General Accounting Team Lead is a pivotal role in SPAS Finance organization. This role serves as the ‘Controller’ of the company and is responsible for mainly all external/internal fiscal and statutory compliance actions such as managing all e-requirements (e-ledger, e-archive, etc.), tax investigations and submission of tax returns (VAT, CIT), adherence to all legislational changes e.g. inflation accounting, new forecourt cashiers whilst also leading a team of 4 to ensure a robust accounting framework is in place to enable delivery of tasks like period-end close, credit card collections and reconciliations at bank/site level, AP/AR, Retailer invoicing as per business plans, bank reconciliations, staff expenses, opex/capex transactions etc.
In addition, this role is very critical in delivery of CO and NFR growth strategy. As the majority of the NFR profitability stems from CO network, this role is of utmost importance for the delivery of new NFR projects and initiatives in SPAS especially supporting system requirements and new fiscal/statutory aspects of the projects after go-live.
• Responsible for all the accounting tasks of SPAS including bank reconciliations, credit card transactional controls, AP/AR, Retailer invoicing, staff expenses, opex/capex transactions by leading a team of 4.
• Tax calculation and coordinating the tax payments (Corporate tax, VAT, stamp taxes, witholding tax, real estate taxes)
• Leads all the internal and external reporting requirements, eg. CMB reporting, EMRA reporting, Transfer Pricing reporting and documentation, opex/capex, COGS & inventory reporting needs per site.
• Coordinates the internal and external audit processes and provides necessary data and information.
• Provides the necessary data and information for expert reviews.
• Manages the period-end accounting cycles including COGS calculation, inventory controls and reconcilitiations, booking of provisions & accruals, capex & depreciation calculations, opex controls etc.
• Performs controls on all ledger and ensures reliability and accuracy of financial statements
• Ensures compliancy on e-reporting requirements, e-invoicing, e-recording ,etc.
• Supports any project under the area of responsibility
Shell Petrol A.S (SPAS), a subsidiary of the JvCo (Shell & Turcas) in Turkey, operates the CO network under RBA operating platform. Currently there are 85 sites in SPAS and all of them are being operated under RBA platform.
SPAS is a very dynamic company that aims to maximize value through on-site Fuel, CR, Lubricants and Commercial Fuel sales. SPAS is expected to have annual sales of 1 mln m3 with a total turnover of 50 bln TRY in 2025.
General Accounting Team Lead is a critical role in SPAS Finance organization and requires high technical (accounting, tax) and leadership skills and competencies with at least 15+ years of experience in statutory reporting and local GAAP.
The position should be able to respond swiftly to the urgent needs and mandates of a very dynamic fiscal and statutory environment, recent examples being new e-projects, inflation accounting, forecourt cashier implementation etc. In addition, the position requires substantial business acumen to proactively support the business for new growth projects mainly being in NFR from system development and fiscal/statutory setup perspective.
15+ years of experience in statutory reporting, local GAAP and tax mngt.
Good analytical skills
Mastery on the systems used in SPAS; Logo, Promaks, Site automation, e-systems (Sovos), Atos
Good knowledge on MS Excel.
