Job Description:
Purpose:
• To provide objective, independent assurance on the design and operation of the systems of risk management and internal controls through delivery of the Annual agreed audit plan.
• Internal Audit conducts activities in a fact-based manner and in an environment which ensures an independent and objective mindset necessary to fulfil the role objectively.
Key activities of the Internal Auditor include:
• Fully responsible to create the draft of the Audit Report with clear summaries of the Findings & Actions
• Executes annual integrated assurance plan including operational, financial, compliance and performance reviews/audits.
• Makes Data Analysis via GSAP (or relevant ERPs) to catch irregularities in the transactions that can signal non-compliance/control failures.
• Participates to the Audit Interviews
• Executes ad hoc reviews on control failure incidents.
• Conducts, participates/facilitates business integrity investigations - Analyses and concludes on effectiveness and efficiency of control framework.
• Conducts risk assessments and identifies controls in place to mitigate identified risks - Performs audit procedures to verify that controls are operating effectively.
• Identifies control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Assesses, evaluates, and promotes compliance to Shell standards and policies.
• Provides advice and support for development and implementation of the Control Framework
• Facilitates/participates in SIA audits "
• Execution of quality interviews and data testing in conjunction with Audit Manager.
• Delivery of a working documentation (test and interview results) and the sections of an audit report.
• Audit planning, preparation, execution, and wrap-up in line with the Shell Internal Audit Methodology.
• Delivery of the audit program with and under the supervision of the Audit Manager.
• Support the Audit Manager in delivering the key messages to the business at the end of the audit.
• Conduct specific business integrity projects and work together with Audit Manager
• Review the proper completion of business and function initiatives to improve processes.
Skills and Requirements:
Shell has been in Turkey for 101 years and operates Retail, T&S, LSC, Lubricants, Chemicals, Aviation, Marine, Upstream and Gas businesses under ten entities, including subsidiaries and non-Shell operated JVs. The mainstream business is Retail with over 1000 sites and a sales volume of around 6 billion liters per annum. The entity (STAS, a JV with a Shell interest of 70%) which operates the retail business, is also one of the 10 largest company of Turkey by revenue (around 6 billion USD) and it is one of the largest taxpayers in the Country. Total amount of indirect taxes paid by all Shell entities annually is over 4 billion USD which constitutes around 1.9% of the tax revenues of Turkey. Aviation business operates at 10 airports in Turkey, refueling around 50 aircrafts daily. Marine business is serving at 21 ports and market leader with ca. 30% share. Chemical business is the market leader in Solvents, PO Derivatives (19% of Shell Europe margins) and HO Derivatives. The gas business is importing around 180 M m3 of natural gas annually. Around 3 million accounting transactions are recorded by Shell Turkey entities annually. The audit role primarily covers the JV however provides audit and investigation services to other Shell entities in Turkey.

• Strong analytical and core finance skills are required with the ability to identify cause and effect relationships, patterns, implications of data, and be able to integrate pieces into a meaningful whole
• The ability to provide insight on risk management to provide assurance needs to be linked with the curiosity to question and understand an area or process bringing in prior experiences to make sound judgements
• The quality of audit findings is underpinned by personal integrity and professionalism and the ability to think and act with independence
• The role necessitates strong skills to influence internal stakeholders
• The incumbent is required to deliver through others towards the completion of pending action items, audit engagements and actions related to defined benefit and defined contribution plans.
